SUMMER 2024
TOO "OLD" FOR LOCAL SUMMER CAMP? WELCOME TO ANOTHER ARTFUL OPPORTUNITY AT THE IMAGINATION STUDIO
Our LIT (Leader In Training) Program offers youth a delightful mix of mindful skills training and hands-on art enrichment leadership. This program will inspire, challenge and equip young leaders with the skills and mindset to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
In this program, LITs will enjoy and support the creative, artistic and magical experiences of their peers. LITs will step into a leadership role, learning how to mindfully help others and embody the role of mentor, friend and in many ways expander. We serve lots of inspiration at The Imagination Studio.
Who are our ideal LIT students?
The LIT Program is designed for students ages 12-15.
This program is great for those looking for community experience.
See this opportunity as an entryway into their path of meaningful work in the world.
Are interested in a Growth Mindset and seek to develop their leadership skills.
Understand that it is not at all essential to “consider yourself an artist” to appreciate or get value from this program. The Artist lives within all of us and these camps cultivate the spirit of that.
Commit to the program: completion of the Essential Art Camp Training Course and participation in a minimum of 2 weeks of summer camp, during scheduled camp hours.
How do LITs benefit from this program?
This program will help students develop communication skills within a uniquely artistic learning environment, problem-solve with confidence, step into a Growth Mindset, and feel inspired to cultivate meaningful connections with others.
We don’t skimp on the life skills! From eye contact to healthy communication practices to time management to expressing healthy boundaries, this program is designed to offer students a meaningful and transferable education to set them up for success in life.
Upon completion of the program, LITs will receive a digital certificate honouring their summer camp contribution.
Upon completion of the program, LITs will receive a letter of reference and recommendation for their future resumes.
LIT’s will feel inspired to ignite the artist that lives within themselves and will definitely learn a trick or two about creating magic in everyday life.
To register for this program, students must commit to two key roles:
Students must successfully complete the Essential Art Camp Leadership Training Course in this program. The course date is scheduled for SATURDAY JUNE 15TH, 2024. Sorry, no alternative dates are available for this training.
This Program requires students to commit to a minimum of 2 weeks of summer camp participation. That’s because our camp weeks are shorter than most, so 2 weeks will make sure that students can actually get the quality of experience to make the course worthwhile. Students are welcome to sign on for more weeks if they like.
LIT STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS DAILY:
a backpack with…
★ a litter-less lunch + snacks
★ full large water bottle
★ comfy shoes
★ art friendly clothes (oil paint does not wash out)
★ outdoor gear appropriate for the weather
★ a curiosity to learn
★ sun protection
★ backpack to carry gear

If my teen is helping with camp, why do we need to pay?
If you’re thinking this, great question. I’ve wondered about this too. The answer might be ten fold, but please lend me your ears and I will share some of my thoughts here. First off, your teen will receive a leadership training course that is worthy of investment. Time, energy and life experience all go into building this strong foundation and there is a great deal of value in that foundation of this program. Another thing to note is that your teen is not employed or an employee (16 is the age when this starts for TIS). If I can offer some other thoughts here, your teen falls under our insurance as a camper. While their contributions are meaningful, beautiful and most certainly appreciated, LITs are still being guided very much so by the leadership of the camp director (aka me). They are not left to sail ships alone and they are not treated as adults. One of the ways I offer meaningful work in the world is by not hiring out my services to be run alone by teenagers. I want to be clear- I value the work of teenagers. In the same yet different breath I also want to share that I have seen this time and time again, teenagers taking on the load of adults which leads to lots of holes and leaky spots. I’m in the arena of meeting people where they are at. Life experience in leadership is also important. While these teens are incredible amazing human beings with so much love and light to share in the world, they are still very much in a learning era. A pre-employement era. Apprenticeship exists for good reason. I have really come to value and respect that I approach this work from the perspective of many hats, mother, artist and adult in the room are a few key notes. I want to set your teens up for success and that takes investment in them to do well.
I hope this helps.
XO Ashley
