see the forest for the trees

Introducing a beautiful botanical workshop that will open your heart and eyes to the world all around you- like right here in The Blue Mountains. I’ve been playing around with dye pots extensively since the studio doors opened and have done a lot of research and testing when it comes to the world of botanical dying. There are so many colourful dye options that grow in the Beaver Valley and I am excited to share them with you! See the thing is, botanical dying is extremely sensitive, complex and subtle all at once. There’s a real science to this art form- a science that I am excited to teach you. Botanical dying is gentle and it’s full of magic! The first time I sunk my hands into a natural dye pot, I immediately felt a sense of full body goodness. Really and truly, I didn’t have to worry about the chemical aspect of the non-natural dying experience and for once, my hands weren’t purple, green or yellow for days on end. These fabrics come out looking like they belong to the earth, and wether its wrapping yourself up in them (in the form of bedding or clothing) or wiping your pretty face with them (napkins and hankies and scarves) or drying your dishes (and beyond and beyond and beyond) natural dyes from safe plants are toxic free. From selective harvesting to mastering your own dye pot and priming your fabric properly, this workshop will leave you feeling inspired to whip up your own pots and get set on giving new life to dusty old linens or transforming something you love into something you love even more. Trust me, after one wash you do not want your natural dying efforts to wash away. I’ll teach you this art with wit and grace and I will be the Miss Frizzle of this class getting to the heart of how this process not only works, but works really well.

In this workshop you will dye your very own hand-made linen infinity scarf- these are simply gorgeous.

All skill levels are welcome. Bring good friends and celebrate your creativity in style at the studio.
