PA DAY CAMP

Exploring the art and beauty of soapstone carvings.

Join me at the studio for a day of incredible soapstone sculpture carving! Soapstone is a smooth buttery metamorphic rock that feels similar to a bar of soap. In this special PA Day camp, students will spend time carving, shaping, sanding and polishing their soapstone. Together we will carve out time to use our hands to sculpt. Our imaginations will take us to creative landscapes. We will use child-safe tools designed to make soapstone carving accessible for children. Students will be surprised in the final steps of this project as each piece of stone has something to reveal!

Together our class will learn about the artists of Cape Dorset in Nunavut and discover the importance of soapstone carving in the far north. Students in this camp will turn their sculpture into inspiration for a small illustration that will have them imagining the natural environment where their bear lives. This camp is a total gift to your kids! And… the sensory department called- it is satisfied!

Students will leave with not only beautiful pieces of art- but also a total confidence only an art class at The Imagination Studio can bring. PA DAY Camps at The Imagination Studio carve out a special kind of creative magic for your kids.
